Understanding Bedford Eagles Division 1 and Division 2 team selection, expectations and competition.
How Do I Register for Division 1 or Division 2?
You don’t register for a competitive division.
Players register in their correct age division and participate in the Bedford Eagles Player Classification process.
Classification results are used to form teams with players at similar current levels of play. Bedford Eagles then submits its teams to the Metro Basketball League for seeding.
Families do not select REC, Division 1 or Division 2 during registration.

Bedford Eagles forms its team rosters. The Metro Basketball League determines the competitive division in which each team will ultimately play through its seeding process.

Division 1
Division 1 generally represents the highest level of Metro competition within an age group. Teams compete against other clubs with comparable overall team strength.
Division 2
Division 2 is also a Competitive (REP) level and provides challenging competition against teams with similar overall ability.
Being placed in Division 2 should not be viewed as an unsuccessful classification result. The objective is to place teams where players can develop and compete appropriately.
Competitive Team Commitment
Competitive (REP) basketball generally requires a greater commitment than recreational team basketball.
- Players are expected to attend scheduled practices, games and team activities.
- Competitive (REP) players are expected to maintain at least 75% attendance across scheduled team activities.
- Missing three consecutive practices may trigger a review of the player’s game participation and playing time.
- Competitive teams may receive additional practice time.
- Teams may participate in exhibition games, tournaments or other additional basketball opportunities.
Families should consider the additional time commitment before accepting a Competitive (REP) roster position.
Practices and Competition
Competitive teams participate in regular Metro Basketball League play and may receive additional practice opportunities depending on age group, available gym space and team structure.
Tournament and exhibition participation varies by team and may involve additional costs or travel.
Practice days and times are not available when registration opens and cannot be guaranteed based on individual family schedules.

Competitive team placement does not automatically mean the same playing-time rules apply at every age level.
U10 and U12: League equal-play requirements still apply. Player shifts are tracked during games and coaches must manage rotations in accordance with league rules.
Older Competitive (REP) teams: Playing time is not guaranteed to be equal and may be influenced by attendance, skill and execution, position and team needs, attitude, effort and game situation.
